I love making paintings with soft pastels, and that was my main medium for many years before I began working in mixed media. When painting "Fly By", 16 x 20 in. soft pastel on paper, I imagined myself a winged creature flying over a cool, breezy, and watery landscape. As I was flying along, the shapes and colors below me and in front of me changed as my perspective changed. Sometimes bigger, then smaller, and warmer or cooler. And if I sped up, I got a kaleidoscope effect. If I slowed down, it was like melting ice cream. I don't have the words to express how much fun I had creating this painting with only my imagination to guide me! When I look at it now, more than three years later, I still remember the thrill of it. No rules. No measurements. No worries. Just fun! Here are some more abstract landscape paintings I made with pastels. Each one has its own unique story to tell. Let me know if you're interested in hearing about them. All of these pastel paintings, and many more, are available. Please feel free to contact me for more information. Your likes, shares, and comments are appreciated. I'd love to hear from you.
