After many years of painting realistic subjects like flowers, still life, and animals, I decided to spend my 60th birthday painting with complete abandonment and joy using whatever materials and colors appealed to me in the moment. The result is my first ever abstract painting,"Turning 60", and the beginning of five straight years painting only abstracts. Lots and lots of abstracts.
